Annick Gijsemans
After having worked for many years as a Laboratory Manager and a Quality Manager in environmental organizations, Annick Gijsemans joined HRD Antwerp Diamond Lab as Quality Manager in 2005.
In her capacity as Quality Manager, Annick is responsible for safeguarding and maintaining the quality standard ISO / IEC 17025 in the Diamond Lab. Among her responsibilities are the monitoring and inspection of the existing quality standards that have been put in place at the lab, as well as the continuous effort to improve the quality standard of the diamond grading reports - also called certificates - that are issued by the HRD Antwerp Diamond Lab. To guarantee the integrity of the grading process and to protect the anonymity of the diamond graders who work in the lab, Annick also serves as the liaison between the clients and the laboratory for any issue that may arise after the diamond grading report has been issued. HRD Antwerp Diamond Lab was one of the first diamond grading laboratories to be granted the ISO/IEC 17025 quality standard for labs. The scope of the accreditation of the HRD Antwerp – Diamond Lab is the grading of polished diamonds. The grading standards employed by the HRD Antwerp Diamond Lab are anchored in IDC's “International Rules for grading polished diamonds”. As such, HRD Antwerp – Diamond Lab is one of the labs recognized by IDC as following its rules. In order to remain up-to-date in her professional field, Annick participates in relevant technical seminars and congresses, both within and outside the diamond sector. Annick was invited to join the IDC as an officer in 2006.
